Go for a run on the trail, or take it easy and stop at the Katy Trail Ice House for a drink along the away. NEIGHBORHOOD HIGHLIGHTīuilt on an old railroad track, the Katy Trail winds itself throughout various neighborhoods in Dallas, but the largest stretch goes through Oak Lawn. Walk up and down Cedar Springs Road on Friday or Saturday night for a bustling, gay-friendly nightlife scene. It features numerous nightclubs, restaurants and shops, and has been known for its diversity since the 1970s. Located right near Uptown, Oak Lawn boasts a thriving, fun and refreshing gay scene. Enjoy a frozen Moscow Mule and delectable nachos while chatting with friends and taking in the Dallas skyline. Take an Uber or Lyft if you’re having drinks or dinner here, because not only is the neighborhood super walkable, parking is tough. It’s bustling at night, but offers a calmer, more laidback vibe than Uptown.
Lower Greenvilleįoodies rejoice! Lower Greenville features countless delicious restaurants and small, boutique shops. Head to the West Village for endless restaurant options (popular spots are Taco Diner and Mi Cocina), a few shopping stops and an indie flick at The Magnolia. Uptown also features a robust nightlife scene, with a stretch of bars and clubs that are typically filled with recent college grads on the weekend. Most residents are 20 or 30-somethings who are drawn to the neighborhood’s walkability and big-city feel.
